Currently the company lists three tablets from ASUS, Acer and Samsung on its website and in 200 stores across the country.
GameStop’s tablet offerings include the 8 GB version of the Acer Iconia 7-inch tablet, the 16GB edition of the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer 10.1 and the 16GB model of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with prices of $329, $399 and $499, respectively.
Each tablet will come preloaded with seven free games including Electronic Arts’ Dead Space and Madden NFL. Devices in the pilot program also come loaded with GameStop’s browser-based Android gaming app, Kongregate, and Google’s Android Market app storefront.
While GameStop will sell the tablets at costs comparable to standard retail pricing, the company worked with its manufacturer and game publisher partners to include a special code that will interact with an external wireless Bluetooth controller. The controller sells alongside the devices with a price tag of $39 and allows players to control four of the seven free games offered from distances across the room, according to GameStop.
