Thanks to a leaked flyer from Carphone Warehouse, Europe’s largest independent mobile phone retailer, we now know when the long-awaited Motorola Xoom 2 will hit markets,
where it may land first and, most importantly, how much it will cost.
The follow-up to Moto’s first tablet will be available in Ireland, conveniently before Christmas, with a price tag of €399.90, or approximately $545. Though that’s just the cost of the Wi-Fi only 16GB edition, as it appeared in the ad. As for a 32 or 64GB model, prices are still unknown.
The ad also leaked specs like an 8.2-inch touchpanel and an Android 3.2 platform – sadly no Ice Cream Sandwich mentioned. Previous reports of blurred photos of the alleged tablet showed a device codenamed MZ617 with a similar size as the original 10.1-inch Xoom. Those reports also claimed the device included an HDMI and microUSB port, as well as a SIM card slot and a single button on the back.
Last week a leak from Verizon’s internal system identified the Motorola Xoom 2 as the MZ617 device, which was listed in a variety of flavors, including 16, 32 and 64GB models. The same leak hinted that the second generation Xoom will only be offered in 4G models, as no W-Fi-only versions were visible on the list.
